On the August 28th KST broadcast of tvN's 'Reply 1997', Yun Jae (Seo In Guk) made his tearful love confession to Si Won (A Pink's Eunji), leaving viewers in heartache.

As viewers know, Yun Jae has had feelings for Si Won for quite a while, but could not confess to her because his older brother Tae Woong (Song Jong Ho) had confessed to her first. Despite being aware of the relationship between Tae Woong and Si Won, Yun Jae revealed his true feelings on Si Won's birthday, the day before everyone left for college.

When Si Won jokingly asked Yun Jae if he bought her a ring for her birthday like he promised last year, Yun Jae replied, "You're so cruel. How can you ask me that?"

He continued, "I really like you. We've known each other since we were born, and even though there hasn't been a day we haven't seen each other, I still see you as a woman. I continually expressed how I felt about you since high school. I like you. So please like me too." The heartbreaking confession garnered a lot of interest from viewers because of how long Yun Jae had kept his feelings locked up inside him.

However, Si Won was only confused by Yun Jae's words, and replied, "Can't we go back to being comfortable friends? We've been together since birth. I'm kind of dumb, but I know that you're the friend I cherish most. You're still going to be friends with me, right?"

Yun Jae then responded, "When a guy confesses everything in his heart to his crush, it means he's decided to never see her again. You throw it away," leaving the room after giving Si Won a ring in a box.

Yun Jae and Si Won's 18-year friendship came to a halt, but it hasn't been revealed whether or not the two will appear again as lovers or friends.
