Another American remake is in the works, but this time it isn't for a movie. Instead the remake will be for a drama series. According to Break News, NBC has purchased the rights for an American remake of the popular drama "My Lovely Sam Soon." This won't be the first time a foreign country is remaking the drama as GMA Network of the Philippines acquired the rights for a local remake. My Lovely Sam Soon was a popular drama that aired in the summer of 2005 and starred Kin Sun Ah and Hyun Bin. It had the highest ratings of 2005 with viewership of over 40%. It became popular in some other asian countries through syndication. I'm guessing an NBC executive was watching the now defunct AZN TV when My Lovely Sam Soon came on. That's how I first discovered the show and it's very addicting, but I don't know how it'll work in the American market. I'm pretty sure they'll change a lot of the script around. It's funny seeing all these Korean media properties being remade into American Versions, maybe one day they'll just acquire the rights and subtitle it instead of making whole remakes.
