On the December 2 episode of the MBC singing competition 'Mask King,' four new contestants battled for a chance to overthrow the reigning king 'Chestnut Bread'!
During one battle, contestants 'Rabbit' and 'Dancheong' performed solo numbers for the audience, with 'Rabbit' singing Kim Hyun Chul's "Romance" and 'Dancheong' singing Kim Choo Ja's "You Are Far Away." The audience vote revealed that 'Dancheong' beat 'Rabbit' with 65 votes to 34, meaning 'Rabbit' had to drop out of the competition and reveal his identity.
The audience was surprised to find that 'Rabbit' was none other than GOT7's Jinyoung. The reveal got panelist Sandara Park particularly excited because she had previously commented that he sounded like a member of GOT7 or 2PM.
During the reveal interview, he admitted that he was a little scared going into his 'Mask King' appearance as it was his first time performing an entire song by himself on a broadcast. However, he added, "All the compliments that you all have given me over the past two weeks gave me strength and a sense of pride."
When hearing that it was his first time performing by himself, panelists expressed shock, adding that they did not assume he was an idol singer because he seemed so familiar with solo performing.
"I hope that you can show even more solo performances [in the future]," EXID's Solji added. "[Your performance] was really cool."
