Could actress Han Ga In and actor Kim Dong Jun appear together as siblings in a drama?

On April 30, director Min Jin Ki and writer Yoon Ki Young sat down for an interview in Seoul to discuss the Genie TV series 'The Recruit 3'.

'The Recruit' is a hyper-realistic military comedy based on a mega-hit animated series of the same name. It follows a privileged young man’s experience after enlisting in the military. Following the success of Seasons 1 and 2, The Recruit 3 returned with new original storylines and once again found success with viewers.

In Season 3, Han Ga In made a brief appearance—not in person, but as a photo. She was introduced as the older sister of the character Jeon Se Gye, played by Kim Dong Jun. With Season 4 already confirmed, fans are now curious whether Han Ga In will appear in person in the next installment.

Director Min commented, “There is a possibility.” He continued, “We received permission from Han Ga In to use her photo, and we’d definitely like to propose a scene where she visits Jeon Se Gye at the army base.”

He added, “Han Ga In and Kim Dong Jun are actually close in real life, so I have high hopes this will happen.” The two stars are often mentioned as celebrity lookalikes.

Wonder Girls' Yubin also made a special appearance in The Recruit 3, adding to the show’s humor and nostalgia. Director Min shared, “I directed the Wonder Girls episode during my time on SNL Korea, which is how we knew each other. Since the show’s timeline is set in 2012, when Wonder Girls frequently performed on military bases, it made sense historically. Yubin was the perfect fit, and I’m grateful she agreed right away.”

Director Min also expressed his desire to continue the series long-term. “If viewers want it, I’d like to continue the series until South Korea’s conscription system ends,” he joked. “Of course, if viewers say it’s no longer fun, I’ll step away. But luckily, the cast is young and full of energy, so I think we’ve still got some time.”
