The family of singer Wheesung has announced that all condolence money received during his funeral will be donated.
On the morning of the 17th, Wheesung's younger brother shared a message through his agency, Tajo Entertainment, stating, "During the funeral last weekend, many colleagues and fans came to accompany my brother on his final journey, filling it with warmth and ensuring he was not alone. Our family did our best to show proper respect, but if there were any shortcomings, we ask for your understanding."
He continued, "I was comforted by the many people who said they found happiness and strength through my brother's music. It made me feel a bit envious to see how deeply and passionately some people could love someone. Although my brother struggled with many negative emotions and unexpected painful situations that he couldn't easily overcome, he never stopped working hard to create beautiful music and kept his passion for singing alive. Through these efforts, I hope that the works he created will never be forgotten, and I will continue to protect them as his family."
Regarding the condolence money, the family added, "All the condolence money sent during the funeral will be used in ways that can make a positive impact on society in Wheesung’s name. We will consult with experts in the field to find the most sustainable and meaningful way to use it."
They also expressed their gratitude, stating, "Once again, we would like to extend our deep appreciation to everyone who remembered and visited my brother."
Wheesung was found dead on the afternoon of the 10th at his home in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, at the age of 43. His funeral and burial were held on the morning of the 16th at Seoul Samsung Hospital in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
