The Korean Red Cross (Chairman Kim Chul Soo) announced on the 25th that actress So Yoo Jin, who serves as a public relations ambassador, donated 30 million won (approximately 22,300 USD) to support victims of large-scale forest fires across the country, including Sancheong in Gyeongnam, Uiseong in Gyeongbuk, and Ulju in Ulsan.
The Korean Red Cross, which has been carrying out emergency relief efforts at the forest fire sites in these areas since the fires broke out on the 21st, plans to use So Yoo Jin’s donation to aid affected residents.
Ambassador So Yoo Jin stated, “I hope this will be of some help to those who have been forced to leave their homes due to the forest fires,” and added, “I pray for the health and safety of those working hard to extinguish the fires and provide relief to victims.”
Since being appointed as a public relations ambassador in June 2019, So Yoo Jin has consistently supported vulnerable groups through donations—including efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19, assist with recovery from forest fires in Gangwon-do, and help cover medical expenses for underprivileged children.
Meanwhile, the Korean Red Cross is currently conducting an emergency fundraising campaign for wildfire victims, which will continue until April 22.
Separately, So Yoo Jin’s husband, culinary researcher Baek Jong Won, has recently faced controversy over issues such as country-of-origin labeling and the content of Beckham pork. He has since issued an apology regarding the matter.
