Singer and painter Kwon Ji An (Solbi) is taking a stand against cyberbullying by participating in the special exhibition ‘STOP! Cyberbullying’, which will be held at the National Assembly Hall in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul, on March 25th and 26th.

This exhibition aims to raise public awareness of cyberbullying and explore solutions to establish a more positive online culture. Cyberbullying has become a growing social issue, affecting not only celebrities and public figures but also ordinary individuals, spreading through social media, news articles, videos, and messaging platforms. The urgent need for social awareness and proactive measures has led to this initiative.

Alongside Kwon Ji An, artists Kim Won Geun, Kim Jin Woo, Kim Tae Young, Seo Seung Jun, and Illos will showcase their works, shedding light on the severity of cyberbullying through artistic expression. The exhibition aims to provoke thought, encourage reflection, and emphasize the responsibility of individuals in creating a safer digital space.

Kwon Ji An will present the documentary ‘Painting Through Pain’, in which she plays the lead role. Directed by Komeil Soheili, the documentary won Silver in the Documentary Category at the 2024 New York Festivals TV & Film Awards. It revisits her struggles with online rumors, malicious comments, and persistent cyber harassment, highlighting the emotional toll of digital abuse.

Additionally, she will showcase her ‘Apple’ series, an artistic response to a mocking online comment that read, ‘At least you know how to paint an apple.’ By transforming negative remarks into art, she promotes messages of reconciliation and linguistic purification, encouraging viewers to rethink the impact of their words.

Exhibition curator Jeon Hye Yeon stated, “We hope that visitors recognize the alarming reality of cyberbullying through visually striking and thought-provoking works, including installations, sculptures, kinetic art, and media art.”

The ‘STOP! Cyberbullying’ exhibition is hosted by Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Young Bae (Seongbuk District, Seoul) and Cultural Nomad (CEO Jeon Hye Yeon). It is supported by the Korea Internet Corporations Association, with backing from major tech companies, including Naver, Meta, ByteDance, and YouTube, as part of a broader initiative to foster a healthier online environment.

Meanwhile, Kwon Ji An is set to participate in an invited special exhibition in Porto, Portugal, this May.
