The late Sulli's family has raised allegations that she was pressured into filming nude scenes during the production of the movie 'Real', and the film is now experiencing a surprising resurgence on various OTT platforms.
As of the afternoon of March 30th, Real ranked 4th on Netflix Korea’s Top 10 Movies Today, 3rd on Coupang Play’s Top 20 Popular Movies This Week, and 6th in TVING’s Real-Time Trending Movies.
The film has returned to the spotlight after both the controversy surrounding lead actor Kim Soo Hyun's alleged past relationship with the late Kim Sae Ron when she was underage, and claims from Sulli's family regarding inappropriate demands during the filming of Real, in which both actors appeared.

On March 28th, Sulli’s family released an official statement raising concerns about the nude scene she was required to film during production. They questioned the lack of clarity in the script, whether a body double had been present, and whether she had been pressured into performing bed and nude scenes. They called on Kim Soo Hyun and the film’s director, Lee Sarang (also known as Lee Robe), to respond.
Sulli’s older brother has also been consistently posting what appear to be accusatory messages directed at Kim Soo Hyun since March 21st, continuing even after the family’s formal statement.
Real, which starred the late Sulli and Kim Soo Hyun, was released in June 2017 and gained attention at the time for being Kim Soo Hyun’s last film before his military enlistment, as well as for Sulli’s explicit scenes. However, it received widespread criticism for its incoherent plot and lack of quality.
Director Lee Robe (Lee Sarang), Kim Soo Hyun’s cousin, abruptly took over the film’s direction after initially being listed only as a producer, which also drew attention. The two later co-founded the agency Gold Medalist.
As recent allegations surrounding Sulli’s nude scenes gained public attention, former director Lee Jung Sub, who dropped out of 'Real' during production, commented on the situation.
While clarifying that he does not have the official capacity to speak due to not receiving a directing credit, he said, “I wasn’t allowed to be present at the early audition process. To ensure fairness, I was excluded from the selection stage. I eventually met about eight finalists, and among them, I personally cast rookie actress Han Ji Eun, with whom I had an enjoyable time filming.”
