The highly-anticipated new Coupang Play original series 'Newtopia' has lived up to the hype so far, drawing a record number of viewers on the Coupang Play app. 

According to the Korean streaming service on February 8 KST, the first and second episodes of 'Newtopia', revealed a day earlier, drew the highest number of viewers for the premiere of any series on Coupang Play. 

Starring Park Jung Min and BLACKPINK's Jisoo, 'Newtopia' tells the story of a young couple who must fight through a zombie apocalypse in order to reunite. 

In the first and second episodes, 'Newtopia' introduced its main characters Jae Yoon (Park Jung Min) and Young Joo (Jisoo), setting the stage for a fun and thrilling ride. Jae Yoon, who is carrying out his mandatory military service duties, spends all his days missing his girlfriend. However, Young Joo feels overwhelmed as a young woman just starting her career in society and finds Jae Yoon's pleas for affection rather annoying. At the end of the first episode, just when Jae Yoon and Young Joo have decided to "spend some time apart", the city of Seoul becomes infested with blood-thirsty zombies. 

Meanwhile, new episodes of 'Newtopia' will be released every Friday nights at 8 PM KST on Coupang Play. The series is also available for streaming globally on Prime Video.
