The identity of YouTuber PPKKa, widely known as a cyber-wrecker, has been revealed. Amid growing public outrage over cyber-wreckers, this development is expected to serve as a warning to anonymous YouTubers and malicious commenters.
Law firm LIWU, which is representing former AfreecaTV BJ Juicy Se Yeon (real name In Se Yeon) in her lawsuit, received partial approval from the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California to request the disclosure of evidence related to PPKKa. As a result, Google provided some personal information about the YouTuber. LIWU is also the law firm that succeeded in revealing the identity of the infamous YouTuber Sojang.
The information obtained confirmed that the operator of the PPKKa channel is a South Korean man in his late 30s, identified as Mr. Park. Other personal details related to PPKKa will be used in the ongoing lawsuit filed by Juicy Se Yeon against him.
PPKKa is a YouTuber with 1.14 million subscribers, known as the face of anonymous cyber-wreckers. Instead of conducting direct investigations, he has been criticized for compiling various sources to create content that fuels public outrage and spreads hate.
In particular, he faced heavy criticism after repeatedly uploading videos about BJ Jammi, who later passed away. Though he briefly suspended his activities following the controversy, he resumed activities six months later.
PPKKa was also embroiled in controversy when he covered a deepfake pornography distribution case, leading YouTube to suspend his monetization. Although he temporarily halted his activities again, he has recently resumed broadcasting.
He has always concealed his identity by wearing a mask while streaming. Despite being a major YouTuber with over a million subscribers, no personal details about him had been revealed, leading to speculation that he might be a foreigner or broadcasting from abroad.
A national petition calling for legal action against anonymous cyber-wrecker channels like PPKKa gathered 50,000 signatures and was submitted to the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee.
The petition accused PPKKa of labeling BJ Jammi as a “man-hating streamer,” which allegedly contributed to her suicide. It further stated, “If an internet broadcaster drives someone to death with indiscriminate content without a clear causal relationship, they must face severe punishment.”
PPKKa was also sued for defamation and spreading false information after covering Juicy Se Yeon in one of his broadcasts. He falsely claimed that she engaged in paid sexual activities and gambled in Las Vegas after she was seen in Los Angeles with HYBE chairman Bang Si Hyuk.
As a result, in September of last year, Juicy Se Yeon filed a defamation lawsuit against PPKKa in a South Korean court. During the legal process, U.S. discovery procedures led to the disclosure of his personal information.
Additionally, she has taken legal action against about 30 anonymous netizens who posted malicious comments on the related videos, and identity verification procedures for them are currently underway.
Lawyer Jung Kyung Seok of Lawfirm LIWU, who revealed PPKKa’s identity, previously succeeded in identifying the operator of the anonymous cyber-wrecker channel 'Talduk Center' Sojang, which had persistently harassed Jang Won Young and BTS.
Jung stated, “Not only Ppukga but also several other similar channels have been identified, and some of these channels appear to have shut down as a result. However, this does not exempt them from legal responsibility.”
Many netizens are impressed with Lawfirm LIWU as this is the second cyberwrecker identity they have revealed. Korean netizens commented, "Wow, it's LIWU again," "They are amazing," "This guy is going to get caught too," "They should've revealed his face," "These lawyers are good at their job," "Wow, this guy is in his late 30s," "Bye," and "Hi Mr. Park in your late 30s."
