On the January 29 installment of the YouTube series 'Star! Cooking Room' hosted by (G)I-DLE's Soyeon, QWER members Magenta and Hina discussed their meager earnings, 1-year into their debut.
On this episode, Magenta and Hina introduced a kalguksu recipe for dieters, made of chicken, vegetables, and tofu noodles. Magenta revealed, "Our producer locked us up and forced us to work out and only eat chicken breast." Hearing this, Soyeon remarked, "Isn't that illegal?".
The host then added on, "Why do you need to watch your weight? You already look nice." To this, Magenta answered, "When we are captured on camera at award ceremonies or during events, we look rounder than we really are. It looked much better when we cut down our weight to 42~43 kg."
The two QWER members then proceeded to prepare their low-calorie kalguksu. While following along with the recipe, Soyeon asked, "You guys appear at a lot of festivals. What's the most you've been paid from a single festival appearance?". Magenta shared her response secretly with Soyeon, to which the host commented, "Then you must also earn a lot individually."
However, Hina quickly answered, "No, we were paid 1,200 won (less than $1 USD) for our first pay." When Soyeon could not hide her shock, Magenta jumped in with, "It's not exactly 1,200 won. But it was a very small amount."
