Season 2 of 'Squid Game' debuted only 2 days ago on December 26, and has already begun to achieve the same level of explosive success as the first season of the hit show. Though viewers have been divided in their reception of the highly-anticipated second season, the global charts show its success: 'Squid Game' is now ranked #1 in all 93 countries on the charts. It's the first Netflix show to ever achieve this impressive feat.
The new season follows original protagonist Gi-hun, as he embarks on a personal mission to end the deadly survival game. Gi-hun abandons his initial plan to move to the United States, and instead joins the life-or-death game once again alongside new participants.
Though critics' reviews have been mixed so far, Squid Game's chart-topping success has now been recreated for the second time, indicating that the high-quality drama and suspense of the first season still remain.
Season 3 of 'Squid Game' was also filmed alongside season 2, and is planned to be released in 2025.
