Actor Chun Jung Myung candidly revealed that he was defrauded by a manager he had worked with for years, describing the financial loss as “beyond imagination.”

On the December 8th broadcast of SBS’s ‘My Little Old Boy,’ Chun Jung Myung made a rare appearance, breaking his silence about the personal struggles he faced during his extended hiatus from acting.

After taking a break from acting since 2019, Chun shared, “Something unfortunate happened. I was scammed by a manager I had worked with for 16 years.” He explained that the manager was like family, even known to his parents.

Chun revealed, “The situation escalated because of the fraud. We were so close that I trusted them completely and left everything to them. Not only did they scam me, but they also scammed my parents, which was incredibly shocking.”

The ordeal left him deeply exhausted. “Dealing with the aftermath left me drained. I even considered retiring. It was incredibly painful, both mentally and emotionally,” he admitted.

Panelist Lee Sang Min commented, “The manager processed contracts without Chun’s knowledge and took advance payments,” summarizing the gravity of the situation.

Chun recalled, “One day, I received an urgent call from a company executive asking me to come immediately. At first, I refused, saying I wouldn’t go unless they explained the situation clearly. Then I got a call saying even the company president needed to intervene. Feeling uneasy, I went to the office with my parents.”

At the scene, Chun was met with individuals waving documents, demanding answers for the manager’s fraudulent activities. “I still remember their faces. It was like a movie scene, with so many people waving papers as if they were creditors. They were asking what I was going to do, and I was at a loss,” he said.

Taking responsibility despite the betrayal, Chun added, “I realized someone had to take responsibility. I decided to handle it with accountability, but dealing with it left me utterly exhausted.”

When asked about the scale of the loss, Chun responded, “The amount was so large it’s beyond imagination.” He described how the stress affected him physically: “I couldn’t eat; I would just sit blankly. My parents suffered even more because they saw how much I was struggling.”

Chun revealed he has not spoken to the manager since the incident. “One day, we’ll probably cross paths. When that happens, I want to ask, ‘Why did you do that to me?’ That’s what I’m curious about.”

Chun concluded by sharing what motivated him to move forward: “One day, I looked around at the people close to me, and they were struggling even more—especially my family. I thought, ‘I need to pull myself together. I can’t go on like this. I need to work hard, if only for my parents.’ That’s when I decided to start again.”
