Jung Woo Sung denies allegations of preemptively stepping back due to paternity scandal.
Actor Jung Woo Sung has acknowledged being the biological father of model Moon Ga Bi’s child. However, suspicions have arisen that his decision to forgo advertising contracts since last year was a precaution against potential controversy over having a child out of wedlock.
According to industry insiders on November 25th KST, Jung Woo Sung allegedly avoided advertising contracts after completing his campaign with NHN Hangame in 2022, anticipating potential personal life controversies as Moon Ga Bi approached childbirth.
Speculation suggests he was concerned about breach-of-contract penalties. Advertising contracts often include a “morality clause” requiring models to uphold a good public image, with violations leading to penalties several times the original fee.
In July, Jung Woo Sung also stepped down from his role as a goodwill ambassador for the UNHCR, a position he had held since 2015. This, too, has been linked to alleged concerns over the impending paternity announcement.
However, Artist Company, Jung Woo Sung’s agency, dismissed these allegations on November 26th, stating, “These are excessive speculations. The decisions regarding advertising contracts and his resignation from the UNHCR were not made in anticipation of this situation. These claims are entirely untrue.”
Meanwhile, attention is focused on whether Jung Woo Sung will attend the ‘45th Blue Dragon Film Awards.’ Although he initially planned to attend, reports suggest he is reconsidering his participation following the scandal.
