A heartbreaking update on Koo Jun Yup, following the passing of his wife, Barbie Hsu, has been shared.
On April 4, Chinese-language outlets, including Sohu.com, reported, “After laying Barbie Hsu’s ashes to rest, Koo Jun Yup has not made any public appearances. He is said to have lost about 12 kgs (26.4 lbs) and cries every day.”
The reports continued, “To help ease Koo Jun Yup’s grief, Barbie’s younger sister Dee Hsu and her family invite him over for dinner every week. In Taiwan, he only had one friend by his side. Without his own family nearby, he has endured immense sorrow alone.”

Currently, Koo Jun Yup is said to have halted all activities and is devoting himself to creating a statue in honor of his late wife. While the statue is not yet completed, it’s been reported that a spot has already been reserved for it at Jinbaoshan Cemetery.
Koo Jun Yup and Barbie Hsu first dated for about a year in 1998 before breaking up. Barbie later married Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei and had a son and daughter with him, but the couple divorced in 2021. Upon hearing of the divorce, Koo Jun Yup reached out to her again, and the two reunited and got married in 2022.
Tragically, Barbie Hsu passed away from acute pneumonia during a trip to Japan on February 2, leaving fans in deep sorrow.
