Gong Yoo invites viewers back into the world of 'Squid Game'
On October 1st, Netflix released the teaser video for Season 2 of its original series Squid Game (directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk), with actor Gong Yoo making a striking return.
The teaser begins with the back view of Gong Yoo, starting his day with a refreshing look at a wide-open mountain view. The man is seen meticulously showering and donning a sharp suit before collecting items from a safe— a red envelope, an invitation, and some money.
Gong Yoo's destination is none other than the subway, the very place that initiated the Squid Game in Season 1. He hands a game piece (the dalgona slap game card) to someone, asking, "Would you like to play a game with me?" The teaser ends with the signature Squid Game background music and the message "Join the game again," capturing viewers' attention.
In Squid Game Season 2, Gi-hun (played by Lee Jung-jae) returns to the mysterious survival competition after abandoning his plan to go to America. This time, he has his own purpose as he re-enters the game, where new participants gather once again to compete for the ₩45.6 billion prize, risking their lives in extreme challenges.
Returning cast members include Lee Jung Jae, Lee Byung Hun, Wi Ha Joon, and Gong Yoo, along with new faces such as Im Siwan, Kang Ha Neul, Park Gyu Young, Lee Jin Wook, Park Sung Hoon, Yang Dong Geun, Kang Ae Sim, Lee David, Choi Seung Hyun, Noh Jae Won, Jo Yoo Ri, and Won Ji An.
