Singer Chuu met with Chef Lim Hee Won, who appeared on Netflix’s variety show 'Culinary Class War' as a "celebrity chef".
On October 21 KST, a new video titled "(ENG) I Tried the Sashimi Highly Praised by Chef Ahn Sungjae" was uploaded on the YouTube channel 'Chuu Can Do It'.
In the video, Chuu visited Chef Lim’s restaurant, expressing her admiration: “I can’t believe I’m here!” She continued, “I heard a lot of celebrities come here. Who have you had visit?” Chef Lim listed several stars, saying, “Uhm Jung Hwa comes often, as well as Lee Hyori, Song Hye Kyo, and Han Hyo Joo.”
Chuu, who typically doesn’t eat raw fish, explained that she had come to try the vegan sashimi featured on Black and White Chef. She added, “I found it so fun that Chef Ahn Sungjae gave me a sense of freedom as a judge on the show. I really enjoyed watching it.”
Chef Lim shared that preparing the vegetarian sashimi takes about three hours and revealed that he learned temple cuisine under the renowned monk Jeonggwan for seven years. “Much of what I prepare has roots in temple cuisine,” he said, thanking the monk.
As Chuu tasted the mushroom dish, she exclaimed, “I didn’t know I liked mushrooms!” and marveled at the texture, asking, “Is this how mushrooms usually feel?” Chef Lim explained, “If you slowly simmer them for 30 to 40 minutes, they become chewy.” When Chuu asked if Chef Ahn had tried the dish, Chef Lim responded, “No, he hasn’t.”
Recalling his time on 'Culinary Class War', Lim added, “At the end, they only asked for two recommendations. I wanted to let him try everything, but maybe it’s lucky he only tried two. What if he’d eaten more and I didn’t make it?” showing his humble attitude.
After the filming, Chuu shared photos on her social media, writing, “Thank you to Chef Lim for giving me a taste experience that made me rethink raw fish!” She posted several pictures with the chef, smiling together.
Meanwhile, Chuu recently released her second mini-album, 'Strawberry Rush'.
