Actress Lee Si Young is under fire for sharing photos of herself riding a motorcycle on a bicycle path.
On October 10, Lee Si Young posted several photos on her Instagram story with the captions, "Vroom vroom" and "It's going to get cold soon, so I need to ride diligently." In the photos, Lee Si Young is seen riding a motorcycle with a friend on a bicycle path next to the sidewalk.
Following her social media update, Lee Si Young received criticism for riding a motorcycle on a bicycle path, which is illegal under the Road Traffic Act.
According to the current law, driving a two-wheeled vehicle on a bicycle path can result in up to one year in prison or a fine of up to 2 million KRW (~1,481 USD).
Bicycle paths prohibit the passage of two-wheeled vehicles like motorcycles and pedestrians. However, if she was merely using the bicycle path temporarily to move the motorcycle from the sidewalk to the road, it might not be an issue. But given the images, the exact circumstances are unclear, and some criticism continues.
It has also been pointed out that electric scooters are similarly banned from bicycle-only paths.
Lee Si Young has not yet made any official statement regarding the controversy. However, fans and the public are calling for increased awareness and caution regarding the regulations on two-wheeled vehicles on bicycle paths.
This issue comes as road traffic violations involving motorcycles and electric scooters have been on the rise, increasing safety concerns.
Meanwhile, Lee Si Young debuted in 2008 through the SUPER ACTION drama 'Urban Legends Deja Vu Season 3.' She has since appeared in numerous dramas and films, maintaining an active acting career.
