The first trial verdict for the YouTuber known as “Taldeok Camp (Sojang)” who was indicted on charges of defaming singer Kang Daniel, will be delivered on September 11th KST.
On that day, Judge Lee Joon Goo of the Seoul Central District Court’s 18th Criminal Division will hold the sentencing hearing for Park, who was prosecuted for violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (Defamation).
Park is accused of posting a false video on their YouTube channel in 2022 titled “The promiscuous private life of the national boyfriend, actor idol,” with the intent to defame Kang Daniel. Taldeok Camp (Sojang) is a YouTube channel known for creating videos based on malicious rumors about idols, but the channel has since been deleted.
During the final trial last month, the prosecution requested a fine of 3 million won for Park. In their final statement, Park expressed regret, saying, “I was immature and very thoughtless,” and apologized for causing harm to the victims, pleading for leniency.
Park appeared in court that day wearing a wig, thick-framed glasses, and a white mask to hide their face, and quickly left after the trial under a black umbrella.
In addition to this case, Park was also indicted without detention in May for posting 23 defamatory YouTube videos targeting seven celebrities, including IVE’s Wonyoung, between October 2021 and June 2023, and is undergoing a separate trial for those charges.
