Actors Yoo Jae Myung and Song Joong Ki attend 'The Land of Happiness' special visit and share insights.
Actors Yoo Jae Myung and Song Joong Ki attended a special guest visit for the film 'The Land of Happiness' and engaged in a discussion with the audience.
During the event, Song Joong Ki spoke about the meaning of happiness, saying, "The question of what it means to live happily is an important topic. For me personally, after losing someone I loved dearly, Sun Kyun-hyung (Lee Sun Gyun), it has become the most significant word for me. I think about it every day."
He continued, "I often think that happiness is not about doing something alone, but about being with the people you love. Even though I didn’t appear in this film, being here with Yoo Jae Myung and the audience for this event is a form of happiness. Whether it's with family or friends, I believe that being together, not alone, is what brings happiness and a sense of security."
Yoo Jae Myung shared his thoughts on a particular scene in the film, saying, "I cried a lot during the scene where a tangerine is given. To a child, it's something huge. My own child doesn't like to share a single tangerine if they ask for one—they want to eat it all themselves. Giving that tangerine to someone symbolizes giving everything you have, and it moved me deeply."
He added, "Lately, with so much going on and living such a busy life, I feel like I haven’t been able to give much to the people who matter to me. I haven’t given even a small, heartfelt gesture—like a few words, a comforting message, or a simple text. The value of happiness lies in the effort to share our hearts, even in small ways. Through this film, I learned that a life focused on preserving what is truly precious, without being swept away by bigger things, is a happy life. I also realized how precious it is to meet the audience like this."
'The Land of Happiness', which was released on August 14 KST, tells the story of Park Tae Joo (played by Lee Sun Gyun), who becomes involved in the assassination of the president on October 26, 1979, under orders from his superior, and Jeong In Hoo (played by Jo Jung Suk), a lawyer who takes on the case and becomes entangled in one of South Korea’s worst political trials. The film is the final work of the late Lee Sun Gyun.
The movie artistically reconstructs the hidden stories surrounding the well-known historical events of the October 26th presidential assassination and the December 12th coup.
Yoo Jae Myung plays the role of Jeon Sang Doo, the head of a powerful intelligence agency who eavesdrops on the trial in a secret room, influencing the outcome. His character is inspired by the late Chun Doo Hwan. He shared the screen with Lee Sun Kyun, Jo Jung Suk, and others in this intense drama.
