Hyosung is in talks to star as the lead of the upcoming film 'Bound to be a Devil'.
On August 1, reports revealed Hyosung has been cast as the lead of the upcoming movie 'Bound to be a Devil', and her label Alien Company clarified, "It's true that she's received an offer to star in 'Bound to be a Devil'. She's reviewing the offer in a positive light."
'Bound to be a Devil' is based on the infamous 'Busan roundhouse kick incident', which occurred in May of 2022. A man in his 30s attacked a woman in her 20s with a roundhouse kick after following her to the entrance of an officetel. The incident was captured on CCTV, leading to widespread national outrage. The man was charged with attempted murder and sentenced to 12 years in prison during the first trial, but during the appeal, the charge was upgraded to attempted rape and murder and the Supreme Court confirmed a 20-year sentence. During the trial, the perpetrator consistently denied his crime, and instead of showing remorse, warned he'll be retaliating against his victim, leading to his solitary confinement in a detention center. Allegations of inadequate police investigation also emerged, which led to public criticism.
If cast, Hyosung will take on the role of the victim, and the actual victim of the incident in 2022 will serve as a script consultant for the film.
'Bound to be a Devil' is scheduled to start filming in mid-August and is expected to release next year.
