Encore stages have become an important stage for K-Pop idols to demonstrate their live singing abilities.
On February 29, the winners of this week's broadcast Mnet's 'M! Countdown', LE SSERAFIM, took to the stage to perform an encore of their comeback title track, "Easy".
Despite its relatively minimal note structure, many netizens felt that "Easy" was not so "easy" a song to sing live, due to its unique, laid-back vibe.
So how did LE SSERAFIM do for this particular encore stage?
Some commented,
"Can they at least sing one right note."
"I've never seen a K-Pop group where not a single member can sing."
"They seem like they have a hard time with the low register of the song. So if they received a comeback song with a low register, shouldn't they practice it to get it right?"
"If I were a singer and someone told me I couldn't sing, it would be the worst insult."
"HYBE idols really can't sing no matter what label they're from."
"If this is them singing while standing still, how is it gonna sound live when they're dancing?"
"K-Pop idols who know you're going to win first place... PLEASE PRACTICE YOUR LIVE SINGING."
"They should be thanking the autotune during their speech."
"This is way below average."
"I'm sorry but grab anyone off the street and I think they could sing it better than this."
"At this point, I don't think Sakura will ever be able to sing even half decently."
"The song is called 'Easy' but they seem to have a very hard time singing it."
Meanwhile, others said,
"I think Kazuha and Chaewon did well."
"The low register makes it a really hard song to sing casually."
"This is just one of those songs where you can't really reproduce the mood of the recording completely."
"I mean I think among the 4th gen female idols, they're average."
"It's not that serious, just mind your own business."
"Hate all you want but the girls are gonna kill it at Coachella."
"They have Chaewon!"
"Kazuha's voice suits this song the best."
"This encore was better than their past ones though?"
"I listen to this song everyday. That's just what the song sounds like y'all lol."
What did you think of LE SSERAFIM's latest encore performances?
They are literally standing still trying to sing their own song. They even have in-ears to help them, which I've never seen for encore stages. I think they deserve at least some criticism, they are singers after all...
