Broadcast personality Nam Hee-suk has marked his debut as the new host of KBS 1TV's "National Singing Contest" in Jindo, South Jeolla Province, signaling a fresh start for the iconic show. The recording, which took place in Gogunmyeon, Jindo County, on the 12th, was Nam's first appearance on stage as the show's MC.
Before the recording, Nam showed signs of nervousness during the final rehearsal but was encouraged by the staff's supportive cheers.
In an interview with News1 before the recording, Nam shared his excitement and gratitude, "I was so nervous that I couldn't sleep at all. I arrived at 9 a.m., but rehearsing with the fun participants made me forget my tiredness. I'll do my best to convey the lively atmosphere of the site," he said. "Thank you for welcoming me, and please support me a lot in the future, and I will run wherever I am called across the country."
Nam took to the stage amidst applause and cheers, fitting for the introduction of a new MC. He greeted the audience with a deep bow and expressed his warmth: "Greetings to everyone in Korea and abroad, the seafarers navigating the distant seas, our brave soldiers, and the residents of Jindo County who have graced us with their presence today, as well as tourists from all over the country."
He specifically mentioned his predecessors, stating, "Song Hae has nurtured this program for many years, and Kim Shin-young filled it with young energy. I will do my best to ensure I am not a detriment and will deliver happiness to your living rooms."
Despite his 30 years of broadcasting experience, Nam admitted to feeling nervous about living up to the legacy of Song Hae, but the audience supported him, chanting his name to boost his confidence.
Before starting the show, Nam thanked his fans and shouted towards the sky in gratitude to Song Hae, signaling the beginning of his journey as the MC of "National Singing Contest."
The Jindo episode of "National Singing Contest," featuring Nam Hee-seok's debut as MC, is scheduled to air on the 31st.
Kim Shin-young, who took over from Song Hae and hosted the show for one and a half years, stepped down after the Incheon Seo-gu episode, recorded on the 9th. Through her agency, C-JeS Studio, she reflected on her time with the show, "I have made unforgettable memories in my life and want to keep everyone I met across the country in my heart. 'National Singing Contest' stars everyone who appears and watches the show, with the MC merely assisting. I hope everyone continues to find happiness through the show."
Kim Shin-young's last episode in Incheon Seo-gu will be broadcasted on the 24th.
Im sorry to kim sinyoung but i think the new MC is very fit to host the program.. Old people in korea are familiar with him and the new MC knows how to deliver jokes to old people too.
