Following his exoneration from drug use allegations, singer G-Dragon has pledged to undertake public interest activities aimed at eradicating drug use.
On December 21 at a press conference held by G-Dragon's new agency, Galaxy Corporation, at the JW Marriott Hotel Seoul in Banpo-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul, Galaxy Corporation Directors Jo Hae-hae and Oh Hee-young were present. G-Dragon, due to scheduling conflicts, was unable to attend but conveyed his sentiments through a letter, read by Director Oh Hee-young.
G-Dragon, who was recently acquitted of suspicion of drug use, said in this letter, "After going through this incident, I saw something I had never seen before," and talked about the reality that domestic drug cases are rapidly increasing.
Accordingly, he said, "I want to actively work to eradicate drugs for the defenseless exposed youth and for those who go down the scary and wrong path. I want to share opportunities for treatment with those who do not have the opportunity."
He then announced plans to establish a foundation, saying, "I want to play a systemic role in protecting someone as someone's older brother, younger brother, and colleague."
Furthermore, G-Dragon announced his intention to establish a foundation aimed at tackling societal issues such as drug eradication, inequality, and injustice. The foundation's mission extends to supporting underprivileged artists and nurturing future generations.
G-Dragon also announce the first donation to his foundation will be by him under his fandom name (V.I.P) as a way to show his gratitude to fans for supporting him all the way during the scandal. He said: "I was able to stand up again. Thanks to the VIP, who treated me like it was their own business from start to finish and embraced me with love, I did not lose energy and was not lonely. I am grateful to you all."
Everyone expected him to fight back and fight hard after all the shit show he had to go through. But instead he's killing them with kindness. From being "problematic" to actually being the solution.
