A 26-year-old woman was arrested after a concerning incident on a Korean Air flight. Reportedly under the influence of drugs, she attempted to open the emergency door mid-flight. The incident occurred on a flight from New York to Incheon, and despite her efforts, she was unable to open the door. Following the flight's arrival at 2 AM on November 23, the Incheon International Airport Police Corps took her into custody.
The suspect reportedly exhibited signs of anxiety approximately 10 hours into the flight, repeatedly attempting to open the emergency exit before being subdued by the flight attendants. Subsequent investigations revealed that the woman tested positive for illegal drugs in a preliminary reagent drug test, leading to her immediate emergency arrest.
Law enforcement officials report that the woman involved in the attempted airplane door-opening incident had recently returned to South Korea following an extended stay of over six months in New York. She reportedly has no known history of mental illness. To ascertain the exact nature and quantity of drugs involved in this incident, the police have sought the expertise of the National Forensic Service for a detailed analysis.
This occurrence follows a recent case where a teenager was sentenced to three years in prison for a similar mid-flight attempt to open a plane door while under the influence of methamphetamine in June.
