(G)I-DLE's Miyeon has been selected as the new face of Sunyang Soju, Korea's low-calorie, low-ABV soju.
According to Mackiss Company, the brand's parent company, Miyeon was chosen for her "clean image" and "unrivaled musical color," with her "versatile charms" suiting the qualities of the soju itself. The idol will be promoting the soju to consumers through various marketing activities, starting with the release of a TV commercial this month.
Sunyang Soju was launched in February to commemorate Mackiss Company's 50th anniversary with a low ABV (14.9%) and low calories (298 per bottle) in Korea. For comparison, one bottle of leading soju brand Chamisul has 415 calories and 20.1% ABV.
"The product features the clean taste of soju despite having the lowest alcohol content and lowest calories [of soju produced] in the country, and Miyeon was selected as a model because the elegant bottle design matches her image," Mackiss Company Head of Marketing Jo Hyun Jun commented. "Together with Miyeon, we will actively promote the charm of Sunyang to consumers."
Meanwhile, Mackiss Company's other soju brand, Now We Are Soju, is promoted by Cha Eun Woo.
