Earlier this week, IU's agency EDAM Entertainment noted that individuals with malicious intent were spreading uncontrollable amounts of malicious content both online and through print media, including "accusations of plagiarism, false rumors, sexual harassment and defamation of character, invasion of privacy," and even accusations that IU was a spy.
Curious netizens have now discovered what kinds of "print materials" these anti-fans had spread, and the results were shockingly appalling.
According to a printed flyer shown below, IU is accused of "selling information to North Korea and China", whose governments are "plotting to overthrow the South Korean's government". The flyer seems to rationalize these accusations based on the fact that IU is the spokesperson for 'Woori Bank', a multinational bank headquartered in Seoul which the flyer claimed was actually funneling money to the North.
The flyer also claimed that "North Korean birds" which were actually "spy drones equipped with cameras and surveillance technology" were being used to monitor internal affairs in South Korea in real time, and further wrote that IU was "on the same team" as another individual suspected of working for the North, former president Moon Jae In.
Netizens could not hide their disdain after coming across the malicious flyer, and commented,
"Whoever made this is... very ill."
"Why..? People have seriously gone crazy."
"I refuse to believe that anyone in their right mind would create, print, and distribute a flyer like this. I'm just appalled."
"Literally, what did IU even DO to you???"
"Who is doing this? Are they getting paid for this??"
"What the actual f***."
"I'm starting to really think that delusional disorder is a real disease."
"The only way to handle this is to slap them with as many lawsuits and fines as possible until they literally have no choice but to seek medical help."
"I'm so sorry to those people who put so much effort into making this sh*t but no one believes any of it."
"The most ridiculous thing about this is honestly the fact that they used such a nice picture of IU LOL."
Someone is out to ruin IU. Why? She seems so sweet and a genuinely nice person. This is just so wrong.
