Jin is a very multi-dimensional artist. He excels in singing, dancing, and, of course, composing. Let's go through the story of Jin as a composer and find out how he evolved into a talented songwriter. All of his solo songs were also named the best songs of the albums they got released in.

Before debuting in BTS, Jin was developing his other talents and never tried composing. However, even while still being a rookie idol, Jin already started making the first steps in this field. After participating in writing "Outro: Propose" and "Love Is Not Over," he was very proud of it.

Ever since then, Jin has started eagerly learning how to be a composer. As a quick learner with a natural talent for music-making, he quickly became skilled enough to be the main composer of his first-ever solo song. Jin was even the first member of the vocal line to do it.

He shared that the producer of the company didn't want to accept Jin's own melodies, so he had to argue with him many times. Gained Jin millions of fans around the world, got appreciated with standing ovations of the audience, and lots of people consider it the best BTS solo song to this day.

Before I start talking about the next solo song from Jin, let's mention his musical input in BTS. Frequently, the official credits to songs are not very accurate compared to reality. SUGA once explained that sometimes the credits include even a person who wrote just one word in the song, or doesn't include someone who did a lot. As for Jin, he also shared that lots of times he was not included in the final credits; however, lots of his melodies have been used for the most famous BTS's tracks, for example, "DNA" and "Blood, Sweat and Tears" album.

Each day Jin writes about 20-30 melodies. Sadly, he doesn't have his own studio yet, so making music becomes a more challenging process that includes borrowing someone else's equipment or room.

As for "Epiphany," fans are still waiting to hear the original melody fully created by Jin. He shared that it was more of a 90s brit-pop than the final version, which came out in 2018. the impact this song has in destigmatizing mental health issues is truly immaculate. Its solo stage was the climax of the LOVE YOURSELF concert.

Jin's first-ever official solo song was released in 2019. It was a uniquely sounding ballad named "Tonight." It received lots of love from the public, proving itself as a masterpiece. The song had a unique meaning as well. In it, Jin was expressing his feelings about his deceased pets. He came up with a melody while being in a shower.

The next solo song, released a few months later, became an absolute hit for Jin and BTS. The Rolling Stone (a huge musical magazine) even named "Moon" the 5th best boyband song in history (the only solo song in Top30). Rob Sheffield even added it to the list of the best songs of 2020 (#7). 

Safe to say that music critics got swayed with the musical and vocal parts of the song. While sounding so clear but dimensional, it is also written in a very high key (C), and covering it can't be done by just anyone. It is courageous of Jin to always create highly challenging songs to sing (especially live). "Moon" demonstrated a mind-blowing success on Worldwide charts, iTunes, and all the biggest streaming platforms (USA, Japan, Korea, UK, etc.).

The most recent solo song of Jin is the famous "Abyss." Yes, Jin once again made history, despite his success with "Moon" already being over the edge. The general public appreciates Jin's vocals for the stability, power, unique color, wonderful sound, so, after "Abyss" was jus once mentioned by Jin on TV, it immediately started trending on MelOn as #1, #2, #3 most popular searches (and continued to trend for the next 6 hours). On YouTube, "Abyss" became the most liked and commented audio on YouTube. Once again, Jin surprised everyone with a new sound. As a fan of raw sounding, this time, Jin wanted it to be even more sincere. The hardest vocal transformations, the musical transcending of a feeling like you are drowning but still come back to the surface to take a quick small breath..everything about "Abyss" screams "masterpiece!".

Recently, Jin also wrote an outstanding intro for "Stay" and sent some melodies for the "BE" album. As a very private person, Jin doesn't share about preparing songs beforehand, but he did mention wanting to do his own mixtape now.
