“Like idol like fans.”
King of Kpop BTS Jimin has continued to lead his fans into a whole another level of fandom culture which gives back by supporting meaningful causes such as education, sick and physically and mentally challenged children, victims of natural disasters, etc. It can be said that Jimin has indeed properly used his vast influence.
On December 28, the Korea Leukemia Children’s Foundation (KCLF) shared on its official Twitter a duly issued “Certificate of Donation” dated December 31, 2020, in favor of Choeaedol Team “ALL FOR JIMIN” which donated a huge sum of 10.13 million Korean won (approximately US $9,230) for treatment of those with childhood cancer. With the donation came a very heartwarming message that says, “I hope there will come a day when the children like the sun can run around and play.”
The KCLF is a non-profit organization specializing in childhood cancer, established to support children with cancer to live a healthy and happy life and to help them grow into healthy members of society. At the moment, more than 10,000 children are being treated for childhood cancer.
BTS Jimin’s fans once again donated under his name in commemoration of the 2nd anniversary of his self-composed song “Promise,” which Jimin surprisingly released last December 31, 2018, on free music platform SoundCloud. The song has ever since made enormous records, such as the unmatched and biggest 24-hour debut song surpassing Drake’s records and being officially selected as the Buzziest Drop of the Year 2019.
The donation from the ALL FOR JIMIN is not the first. Last December 31, 2019, the same team likewise donated 10.13 million won to KCLF to celebrate the first anniversary of Promise. The donation message stated, “I support the happy and warm spring days of the angelic children.”
Such warm, sincere and thoughtful acts of the fans have earned positive responses for setting a good example of the best way to celebrate the release of an effective healing and very beautiful song like “Promise.”
Just recently, the fans also worked together to vote for Jimin on the Choeaedol app in order to make him a Charity Fairy
in celebration of his 9200th day and as such, 500,000 Korean won
was donated to support physically and mentally-challenged children through Miral Welfare Foundation.
Finally, Jimin has been known as an idol with the biggest heart. He believes that “We should give as much as we receive.” Being true to his words, he has donated several times, primarily supporting education, both from his hometown Busan and outside. The latest donation he made was 100 million won to the students of Jeolla province, which was belatedly reported publicly only in August 2020. The Jeonnam Future Education Foundation put Jimin’s donation into good use and decided to establish an education fund called “BTS Jimin Scholarship,” which will be used to support outstanding and talented students of arts for 3 years beginning January 2021.
THIS is how fans celebrate their Idols in a useful and impressive way.
