tvN’s Monday-Tuesday drama 'The Divorce Insurance' has taken the spotlight by securing the No. 1 spot in its time slot right from its premiere.

Airing its first episode on March 31, 'The Divorce Insurance' recorded an average household rating of 3.6% and a peak of 5.1% in the Seoul metropolitan area. Nationwide, it achieved an average of 3.2% and a peak of 4.3%, ranking first among cable and general programming channels during its broadcast.

Starring Lee Dong Wook, Lee Kwang Soo, Lee Da Hee, and Lee Joo Bin, 'The Divorce Insurance' gained attention even before its premiere due to its unique premise. Set against the backdrop of an insurance company, the fresh office rom-com immediately captured viewers’ curiosity with its intriguing concept.

The first episode kicks off at a wedding expo, where No Gi Jun (Lee Dong Wook), Kang Han Deul (Lee Joo Bin), Ahn Jun Man (Lee Kwang Soo), and Jo Ah Young (Chu So Jung) struggle to promote their unconventional "divorce insurance" product. After barely escaping an awkward situation, a soon-to-be bride confronts them, asking if their insurance implies that marriage leads to misery. Gi Jun calmly responds, “It’s quite the opposite. The purpose of both marriage and divorce is to find happiness.”

The story follows No Gi Jun, a brilliant insurance actuary who gets the idea for divorce insurance after a dream encounter with the so-called "God of Insurance." Leading the innovative product development team, Gi Jun, who has faced multiple career failures, seizes an unexpected opportunity when his team leader, Na Dae Bok (Kim Won Hae), agrees to let him and his best friend Ahn Jun Man launch the project. Kang Han Deul, who has experienced divorce firsthand, soon joins the team, and to Gi Jun’s surprise, his ex-ex-ex-wife Jeon Na Rae (Lee Da Hee) also gets transferred from the Singapore branch, marking the beginning of an extraordinary journey for the divorce insurance task force.

From the very first episode, 'The Divorce Insurance' has captivated audiences with director Lee Won Seok’s witty and visually striking direction, as well as writer Lee Tae Yoon’s innovative and heartfelt storytelling.

Director Lee described the drama as “a creative and unique reinterpretation of divorce, delivering a story with a positive impact.” He emphasized that although the drama revolves around people hurt by relationships, “it is ultimately an uplifting, heartwarming story about healing, told with humor and a fairy-tale-like charm.”

Writer Lee Tae Yoon added, “While divorce is the central theme, Divorce Insurance offers a lighthearted and relatable take on it. Through characters who have experienced love, breakups, and personal growth, the drama explores life philosophies and the changes that follow divorce.” He also noted that the story carries a message of encouragement—“Even when faced with the unexpected ‘disaster’ of divorce, life goes on, and people can find happiness and a better version of themselves.”

The production team praised the drama’s ensemble cast, stating, “Each character may be an adult on the outside, but they retain a childlike innocence within. It feels like we’ve found the perfect lineup.”

Lee Dong Wook, portraying No Gi Jun, a seasoned actuary who has gone through three divorces, showcased a refreshing and comedic transformation. His playful banter with Kang Han Deul and his dynamic chemistry with best friend Ahn Jun Man provided extra entertainment.

Lee Joo Bin brought depth to her role as Kang Han Deul, resonating with viewers through her portrayal of a woman navigating life after divorce. Lee Kwang Soo, playing the cautious and highly efficient risk surveyor Ahn Jun Man, delivered a charismatic performance, while Lee Da Hee stole the spotlight as the bold yet quirky Jeon Na Rae.

With its fresh concept, strong direction, and stellar performances, 'The Divorce Insurance' is already making waves in the Monday-Tuesday drama scene.

Meanwhile, Episode 2 of 'The Divorce Insurance,' featuring a special guest appearance by Jo Bo Ah, is set to air tonight (April 1) at 8:50 PM KST on tvN.
