Broadway Legend Lea Salonga Announces BTS's V as her Bias: Filipino Vocal Powerhouse Jed Madela joins the club

On Sunday, September 13, Ms. Lea Salonga, Tony award-winning actress from the theatrical play Miss Saigon and who's widely known to have perfect pitch and the voice of two famous Disney Princesses- Jasmine of Aladdin and Mulan -has declared her love for BTS’s V through her personal Facebook account.

Ms. Salonga particularly shared a YouTube link which recounts a scene from BTS's American Hustle Life, where we can see renowned academic mentor and choir director/ consultant of 1993 musical comedy film Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit  Iris Stevenson specifically praising BTS V's vocals as "soulful". "People feel something when you sing," Stevenson remarked, which prompted the Broadway Legend to share her own similar experience as she recalled how her mentor, Mary,  did the same for her, healed her, and helped her become stronger in the context of playing Kim, her award-winning character in Miss Saigon.

She concluded the nostalgic journey by announcing BTS's V as her bias, and shared words of inspiration to her fans:

" So watching this not only makes me feel inspired and happy (and yes, Kim Taehyung is my bias, y’all), but throws me back to when I heard similar words. Whatever your vocation or occupation, consider yourself blessed when you encounter that one person that tells you, “You have something, let’s help you figure out how to use it.”

Additionally, Ms. Lea didn’t keep her “V” love to herself. After posting V’s isolated dance practice on her social media, Filipino vocal powerhouse, Jed Madela, replied. Jed Madela is famous in his own right-- a Filipino singer, recording artist, songwriter, TV host, entertainer, and occasional actor who was also the first Filipino to win the World Championships of Performing Arts title.

Because Jed’s reply was made via a personal Facebook account and not a verified account, many asked him on his official SNS if the Facebook response was real. The Filipino singer, also known as The Voice, took to Twitter and confirmed the reports.

Jed has since posted all the BTS boys’ isolated fancams and Taehyung’s leads in all views and likes.

Interestingly enough, the two globally accomplished artists are also mentors in their own right: Ms. Salonga is a coach for the Philippine version of The Voice, while Mr. Madela is part of the judging panel for Tawag ng Tanghalan, in a local TV show in the Philippines. Needless to say, along with their impressive resume, these two have enough experience to spot great talent when they see one ; thus, their expression of open admiration for BTS V  drew explosive reactions from fans.

The fact that two world stars see V’s talent bodes well that perhaps one day he’ll write his own name in lights alongside theirs.

Ms Lea Salonga noticed the same thing that Iris Stevenson did so many years ago, that Taehyungs baritone voice is so incredibly soulful, it really makes you feel all spectrum of emotions. Taehyung has undeniable talent!
