South Korea's recent bunny hat trend has made its way to Japan!
On March 16, one netizen took to a Korean message board to share an image of a pop-up shop tent in Japan selling nothing but the popular hat, which first became internationally known thanks to a number of K-pop idols wearing them while taping variety shows and attending public events.
Others who saw the picture were not only stunned that the trend had made its way overseas, but that the banner of the store featured none other than an image of TWICE member Nayeon wearing the hat.
Netizens reacted by mentioning how adorable she looked in the hat and how crazy it is that the hat became such a big hit.
"I read in the newspaper that the person who invented the hat had no idea it was going to sell this well, so he never registered a patent," one netizen revealed. "He said he hardly made any money compared to how popular the hats are."
"They sell the hats in [Japan retail store] Don Quixote for 1,800 yen (18,000 won)," another added. "Really expensive."
Others were debating whether or not Nayeon was the very first idol to wear the popular hat, to which one fan clarified: "Nayeon isn't the first person to wear the hat, but a video of her wearing the hat at a fan signing became a huge hit, and that's partially why it's a fad. She's so cute."
