New tvN weekend drama 'Mr. Sunshine' responded to a report on Lee Byung Hun's payment.
On July 3, Munhwa Ilbo reported that Lee Byung Hun, who's playing the male lead of 'Mr. Sunshine', is being paid 150 million KRW (134,529 USD) per episode. The drama contains a total of 24 episodes, meaning Lee Byung Hun is getting paid 3.6 billion KRW (3,228,699 USD) in total. This is 8.5% of the drama's total production cost which is revealed to be 43 billion KRW (38,565,022 USD).
In response to the report, a rep of 'Mr. Sunshine' clarified, "Lee Byung Hun's payment per episode is not 150 million KRW," and stated, "We cannot confirm his payment as it is confidential information."
Meanwhile, 'Mr. Sunshine' starring Lee Byung Hun and Kim Tae Ri is a new drama by hit scriptwriter Kim Eun Sook who wrote 'Descendants of the Sun', 'Goblin', and more. The first episode is set to air on July 7.
