American entertainment news platform 'Variety' has chosen a list of 'International Music Leaders of 2018', announced during the world renowned 'Marché International du Disque et de l'Edition Musicale (MIDEM)' held in Canne, France from June 5-8.
Among the list of 23 individuals selected were 2 Korean figures - Lee Soo Man of SM Entertainment and Bang Si Hyuk of Big Hit Entertainment. You can check out the full list on 'Variety', here.
In the list, 'Variety' recognized Lee So Man by writing, "An undisputed K-pop pioneer, Lee founded one of South Korea's largest entertainment agencies, S.M. Entertainment", then coined SM artists such as EXO, Super Junior, and NCT as some examples of the agency's success. and Bang Si Hyuk for the success of BTS, stating, "Bang founded BigHit Entertainment 13 years ago, but 2018 will mark the year its boy band BTS solidifies as the K-pop act that is also a global pop force."
