Gugudan's Kim Se Jung and Nayoung expressed their honest feelings of the group's name.
On the May 28 installment of JTBC's 'Please Take Care of My Refrigerator', Kim Se Jung and Nayoung of Gugudan guested for some tasty meals. While on the show, MC Kim Sung Joo hesitantly asked, "I debated whether I should ask or not if I met Gugudan members...your group name. What do you guys think about it?"
The two members laughed and started it off, "Honestly at first, we were really shocked. We worked and prepared hard for years and wondered what our name would be." Kim Se Jung added, "At the time, we randomly picked out names out of a box. With a nervous heart, I picked out a name and saw Gugudan written on it. So I acted like nothing was wrong and placed it back in the box to pull out another name but when I did so, Gugudan came out again. From the start, the entire box was full of the name Gugudan, they decided on the name."
"We found out later about it - the president/CEO apparently suggested naming us Gugudan to his friend once and a week later when he mentioned it again, the friend remembered the name right away which led to us being Gugudan," the girls finished.
