In light of their new album 'Eyes On You', the members of GOT7 engaged in an interview with Newsen and shared about their music, career, and more. One of the topics of the talk regarded fellow JYP artists. Regarding their sunbae group 2PM, leader JB commented, "I think it's really amazing how they renewed the contract twice. The hyungs didn't talk to us in separate about the contract renewals but just the fact that they did renew is amazing. Honestly, they all probably received different offers but I think they all renewed together to maintain the team and to protect 2PM. I think the way they love their group is something that we also need to follow."
As for GOT7's contract with the agency, JB said, "That (contract renewal) season is still far away for us so we haven't really talked about it yet."
Jinyoung added, "To have contract renewal twice must mean that they have a very strong bond. It makes me want us to last long as well. Next time, I want to meet the hyungs and talk with them. I want to receive advice."
GOT7 also talked about their hoobae boy group Stray Kids, who is the first JYP boy group in 4 years following GOT7.
Youngjae commented, "First of all, I really want to congratulate them. I think we need to become a good example. I believe we have to work hard and set a good example and become a good sunbae so they can learn from us."
BamBam added, "We went to 2PM sunbaenim's concert when we first debuted. I remember getting motivated, thinking I need to become like sunbae. Now, it feels weird that we are at the time where we have to get nervous and work harder in order to make the hoobaes think 'We need to become like GOT7'."
JB also stated, "They're coming out faster than expected (laugh). I'm not ready for a hoobae so a lot of thoughts are running through my mind. It makes me think of what kind of things our sunbaes told us and how they influenced us. I think we need to take care of them like real brothers while setting a good example."
JB added, "It's possible for you to get competitive with a new hoobae coming but we're not like that because I think the music we pursue is different. I think we're in the position where we encourage each other. Also, we're a sunbae so I don't think it's right for us to get competitive with them. I just think we need to show more professionalism on stage so the hoobaes can watch and learn from us."
