It was belatedly revealed that film director Hong Sang Soo decided not to attend the funeral of his wife's mother.
Hong's mother in law passed away back on December 5 at 85 years old. She suffered a sudden shock approximately 9 months ago, then spent the rest of her life in the hospital, never fully recovering. According to close acquaintances, Hong's mother in law was unbelievably healthy for her age prior to the shock.
Hong Sang Soo was never spotted during the duration of his mother in law's funeral. Meanwhile, the first trial surrounding his divorce with his wife 'A' is set to take place on December 15. Director Hong Sang Soo filed for divorce with his wife on November 27, after openly admitting to his affair with actress Kim Min Hee.
