Though what Ssin-nim said was in a humorous manner and meant to entertain, many viewers, particularly EXO fans, deemed the joke inappropriate. This supposedly inappropriate joke was in Ssin-nim's recent Xiumin style makeup tutorial, during which she said, "Do you want to come over for some gaebul?" People had taken offense to this joke for its implicitly sexual nature, as gaebul (Urechis unicinctus) is synonymous to male genitalia.
Viewers were greatly offended by this joke, so much so that Ssin-nim was eventually forced to remove the video altogether and even upload an official apology video on YouTube and Instagram.
Ssin-nim wrote, "Hello this is Ssin-nim. Firstly, I apologize for making everyone who watches my videos feel uncomfortable. As a creator, I believe that it is entirely my fault that I did not thoroughly examine and pay attention to the producing of my videos so that my efforts would not appear sloppy. I have permanently deleted the video in question. I was not wholly responsible as someone who runs a YouTube channel with nearly 1 million subscribers. I did not pause to think about the viewpoints of my audience, particularly those of minors, young people, and the artist's fans, in my ambition to create more fresh, funny content that will satisfy everyone. I will use this incident as a lesson to peruse, be more responsible, and think more carefully about my choice of words and behavior in the process of producing content. I sincerely apologize once again."
