Back in September 2014, an LG executive Jo Seong Jin was accused of vandalizing Samsung Crystal Blue washing machines. Recently, LG released CCTV footage of the incident, arguing that there is little evidence that Jo purposely damaged the products.

The incident occurred during the Berlin trade show Internationale Funkausstellung (IFA). The IFA is one of the worlds largest trade shows in which electronic companies display their latest products and developments to the public. As LG and Samsung were two of the biggest competitors, Samsung believes that LG purposely damaged their products in order to gain an advantage during the show.
LG refuted these claims but agreed to pay for the damage back in September. Samsung instead sued LG for property damage and defamation, leading LG to countersue for obstruction of evidence.
LG has released CCTV footage (seen above) to show exactly how Jo behaved and in what circumstance. In the clip, Jo can be seen opening and examining the washing machines multiple times in plain sight of the Samsung employees. Samsung's argument focuses on Jo pushing down on the washing machine doors at the 0:42 mark. LG stated back in September that Jo was simply conducting a routine market study and testing the rival's product, checking for durability. According to LG, the washing machine doors were already weak at the hinges.
Reports state that although the court attempted to hold a mediation between the two companies, it was unsuccessful. Two other LG executives are also being accused of similar charges as that of Jo.
