2013 has been quite a ride for Girl's Day, with "Expectation" rocketing the girls to heights they haven't seen since their "Twinkle Twinkle" days, and "Female President" seeing even more success. The girls have promoted practically non-stop for months, and they're not stopping just yet. Riding on the tail of "Female President", Girl's Day reminded us of where they came from with their newest digital single, "Please Tell Me".
Unlike the last two singles, "Please Tell Me" takes the cutesy-summer-song route, much like SISTAR's "Loving U" or B.A.P's "Crash" from last year and like what SECRET tried to do with "Yoohoo" before the Hyosung's unfortunately-timed Ilbe scandal stopped the song's momentum in its tracks.

"Please Tell Me" isn't anything we haven't heard before, and it doesn't pretend to be anything that it isn't. It's a fun, summery beach singalong and that's perfectly okay- save for "Yoohoo" we haven't really had one of those this year, and it's high time we got one. It's nice to see that Girl's Day is still Girl's Day and that they can take a break from the super-sexy and just have some good clean fun, even if it is a little cartoony.
Perhaps this song's biggest failing, and the reason that it won't chart as high as their other recent singles (aside from the public's general bias toward sexy concepts), is that it doesn't have a music video. That broadcast promotion is a big part of how songs make it big, and while I wouldn't wish yet another schedule onto these girls (goodness knows they've stayed busy enough), a video might have given "Please Tell Me" the push it needed to become one of 2013's big summer songs. Even so, it's a fun song and will definitely get you in the mood to go to the beach.
