YouTube expressed their surprise that Psy's live streaming of his free concert was able to crash some of their servers.
On October 5th, a representative from YouTube stated to No Cut News, "We didn't have servers down like this even for MBC's Korean Music Wave concert back in May at Google Headquarters. Girls' Generation, Wonder Girls, TVXQ, Super Junior, KARA and many other famous artists were there with many people from all over the world watching the live stream, but the users had no difficulty watching it. We're surprised as well. When YouTube provides a live streaming service, we take precautions in case of numerous concurrent connections. A situation like this is unprecedented, so we even went down to internal maintenance to figure out what happened."
80,000 people attended Psy's concert, and even though YouTube has not released an official statement, experts predict that at certain points, up to 900,000 were watching the live stream simultaneously.
