Actress Jung So Min (23)'s controversial remark on 'Strong Heart' drew in mixed response from viewers.
On the April 10th episode of SBS 'Strong Heart', Jung So Min remarked, "I'm already 24 years old. Someone told me that a woman's age is much like a Christmas cake. They sell well until the 24th, but they don't sell that well starting the 25th."
Comedienne Song Eun Ee (40) who is still single then remarked, "Then am I a cake only in form, something you can no longer eat?", causing the set to begin laughing.
When the episode broadcasted, Jung So Min's remark was played off as lighthearted and funny, but some of the viewers seemed to be uncomfortable with the way she worded her thoughts for they felt it was disrespectful for Jung So Min, as a woman herself, to compare a woman's age to a Christmas cake. Furthermore, they also felt it was inappropriate for her to say that women don't "sell" well after a certain age.
Others didn't see a problem with her comment and brushed it off as a joke.
"How can she use the word 'sell' as a woman herself?" they asked, while also saying "That's not something she should say on television." Others laughed it off saying, "She was only trying to be funny."
In related news, the April 10th episode of SBS 'Strong Heart' featured the new MCs, Shin Dong Yup and Lee Dong Wook, and garnered 11.0% in viewer ratings.
