SBS' Star King has been under fire a couple of times due to some of it's segments being similar to various Japanese shows. The show's PD (producer) explained that all participants of the program thought of their own ideas and even said, "Who copies from Japanese shows these days?" in a phone interview with Newsen. However, it has now been proven that this wasn't true and that Star King has indeed deliberately copied some segments from Japanese shows. One participant revealed that the Star King staff even showed him a clip of the Japanese show and told him to practice the given content. The staff of Star King finally admitted that the segments in question were plagiarized. SBS disclosed a statement saying that the PD would be fired from the program and be given disciplinary punishment. On the left is a getting to work in 3 minutes segment on Star King. On the right is a getting to work in 5 minutes segment provided by TBS Japan. I'm not too surprised at this news, because wouldn't all shows presenting talents be similar? For example, Star King can be compared to America's Got Talent and Britain's Got Talent. However, I am shocked at the fact that the staff actually made someone watch the clip of a Japanese show and copy it. Now, that was going too far. I hope Star King would quickly settle this matter and regain its respect.
