On April 21 at 6 p.m. KST, singer Chuu released her third mini-album Only Cry in the Rain, along with the music video for the title track of the same name, on various online music platforms.

This marks her first comeback in about 10 months, following her second mini-album Strawberry Rush, which was released in June 2024. In the meantime, Chuu has continued to connect with fans by contributing to tracks such as Second Love, IN MY DREAM, nrv, and Am I Stupid for Loving You?

Chuu’s third mini-album 'Only Cry in the Rain' captures a journey of confronting invisible yet powerful forces like “memory” and “emotion,” and moving forward through reflection. The album invites listeners to revisit forgotten feelings and recognize how those emotions have shaped who they are today, all while highlighting Chuu’s lyrical introspection and artistic growth.

Her ongoing message of “emotion” and “honesty,” conveyed through her previous songs, comes through even more clearly in this release. While Howl and Strawberry Rush explored hidden identities using the metaphor of a “monster,” 

Only Cry in the Rain delivers a message of comfort to today’s youth: “It’s okay to be honest with your feelings—at least on rainy days.”

The title track blends a dreamy new wave-inspired synth-pop sound with an upbeat rhythm and melancholic undertones, further enhancing Chuu’s unique musical identity.

The music video, released alongside the album, draws attention with its nostalgic, retro-inspired visuals. Featuring Y2K aesthetics and footage captured through digital cameras and camcorders, it tells a story of friendship and love, woven together like a short film. True to the song’s name, Chuu is seen letting herself cry only in the rain—portraying a rare moment of emotional honesty.

Toward the end of the video, the camera lingers on a symbolic transformation: a girl’s eyes morph into birds, which drop tears—a striking continuation of Chuu’s symbolic storytelling. Having previously used “monsters” as a metaphor, she now introduces “birds” as a new motif, sparking curiosity about their role in future releases.

In addition to the title track Only Cry in the Rain, the mini-album includes Back in Town, Kiss a Kitty, Je t’aime, and No More.

By tapping into the emotional memories of youth and deepening her message, Chuu continues to showcase her growth as a solo artist through evocative storytelling and creative visual concepts.
