On the December 1 broadcast of KBS2's 'Golden Girls', South Korea's top female divas including Insooni, Park Mi Kyung, Shin Hyo Bum, and Lee Eun Mi debuted as the new girl group Golden Girls, inspiring viewers with their hard work and resilience.
First, producer J.Y. Park finally unveiled the group's debut song, "One Last Time", saying, "I wrote this song with you all in mind." The members of Golden Girls showed enthusiasm while strongly resonating with the song's lyrics, but their positive outlook took a down turn when they were shown the choreography they would have to learn.
Nonetheless, the veteran divas in their fifties and sixties persevered with the help of their expert instructor, Monika. Beginning with the very basics, the members of Golden Girls took small but certain steps toward their goal of debuting. The ladies were also seen having fun throughout the process, joking with one another and building teamwork.
Finally, the promised day arrived, and the Golden Girls took to the stage to perform "One Last Time" in front of 400 fans at their debut showcase. The ladies demonstrated a mixture emotions backstage as the moment of truth approached. Park Mi Kyung grew teary as she observed, "I feel like I'm being born again. I heard that people lined up at 9 AM in the morning in this cold weather, just to see us. When the showcase isn't until the afternoon. Don't blame me if you catch a cold!"
Shin Hyo Bum said, "It's not often that someone in their fifties is given such a lucky chance to debut again. At first, even the most simple steps were hard. If I had to raise a single hand while moving my feet, I got so confused. But I still went at it, thinking that I would get this, even if it's the last thing I do before I die. Now, I think I've gotten to a point where I can say, it's not bad. I'm feeling good, and I'm enjoying it."
For the charismatic Lee Eun Mi, the day of the showcase was a chaotic medley of nerves and excitement. "I couldn't sleep. It's a habit of mine. I haven't been able to fix in ever since I debuted. But at the same time, today is the day that I open a special new door in my long career as a musician, the door of 'Golden Girls'. For that reason, I'm also excited," she shared. Finally, Insooni remarked, "I originally debuted in a girl group. Now, after 44 years, I'm debuting in a girl group again. It feels really strange. I think once I'm about to go up on stage, it'll feel much like it did when I first debuted."
At long last, the Golden Girls went up and killed it on stage, captivating the audience. You can watch the performance for yourself, below!
