SM Entertainment responded to reports saying aespa's "Black Mamba" music video was plagiarized.
Last month, German visual artist Timo Helgert alleged aespa's MV had used his work without permission, and many netizens noticed similarities to K/DA's "POP/STAR" MV. On December 22, SM Entertainment responded to the allegations in an interview with Sports Kyunghyang, stating, "We contacted the artist and company regarding some scenes in aespa's 'Black Mamba' music video, and we discussed plans and explained our worldviews."
The label continued, "The artist and company in question understood our planning and production process, and they confirmed there was no objection to the music video scene."
