Foreign graffiti artists have vandalized various subway trains in South Korea.
According to Incheon Nonhyeon Police Station, on October 27, a report was made that two foreigners left graffiti on the trains and fled from a subway car depot in Namdong-gu, Incheon, around 3 AM on October 24.
The two individuals took advantage of the late night hours when the high voltage current around the railroad was cut off. As seen on the surveillance video, the two individuals broke into the car base, which is a secure facility, by cutting the fence and barbed wires. After, they spray-painted "WORD" on one of the train cars and escaped.
Such graffiti was discovered one after another on 8 trains in 6 cities across the country for about two weeks starting from October 12, including Incheon, Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Daejeon, and Gwangju.
The police are pursuing the individuals suspected to be known as the 'Rail Goons,' considering the similar graffiti style and intrusion method that was seen in other countries. These individuals are infamous overseas as they are known to vandalize subway cars in different countries and show off their work online.
Currently, the police are conducting an international cooperative investigation, such as receiving an arrest warrant for the individuals on charges of breaking into a building and destroying property. Unfortunately, the two individuals have already fled the country, and the Korean police have requested an arrest warrant from Interpol.
At a time like this. They need something like Singapore's vandalism laws whereby they cane them real good.
