The family of the late singer Wheesung has decided to proceed with funeral arrangements following his sudden passing.
On March 12th KST, his agency, Tajo Entertainment, released an official statement: “The autopsy conducted by the National Forensic Service on Wheesung was completed on the morning of March 12th. Funeral arrangements will now proceed accordingly.”
The agency further explained: “The bereaved family is going through immense sorrow and pain. Initially, they wished to hold a quiet, private funeral due to concerns over the mother’s health. However, after deep deliberation, they have decided to allow those who cherished and loved Wheesung to participate in the mourning process.”
Wheesung’s younger sibling also conveyed a heartfelt message through the agency:
“Our family is devastated by this immense loss. Out of concern for our mother, who loved my brother dearly, we initially planned for a private funeral. However, we realized that it would only be right to provide an opportunity for those who remember and love my brother—both as an artist and as a person—to pay their respects. Therefore, we have decided to set up a memorial for him.”
They continued:
“My brother carried an indescribable loneliness that no one could truly console. He lived fiercely, using music and song to ease and express those emotions. To everyone who knew him and to those whose lives were touched by his music, we kindly invite you to visit the memorial and bid him farewell so he does not leave this world alone.”
Wheesung’s memorial service will be held at Samsung Medical Center Funeral Hall in Gangnam, Seoul, starting March 14th. The funeral procession is scheduled for March 16th, with his final resting place at Gwangneung Memorial Park.
