NewJeans sat down with the BBC and broke their silence regarding the ongoing dispute with ADOR.
The five members (Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein) spoke up about the reasons they could not return to ADOR and expressed their positions. They explained, "The fact that the current situation is not in our favor socially shows that we’re not in a position where we can speak freely. That’s why it took immense courage to speak out."
Minji shared, "We suffered a great deal emotionally. Going back to that company and facing all that again would be cruel." The group kept to their argument that they felt ADOR did not protect them. Danielle shared, "(ADOR) didn’t protect us," adding, "We didn’t start this to gain sympathy. We just wanted to do what we love properly. But lies and misunderstandings keep getting in the way."
However, more Korean netizens are starting to see things differently. Following the court's approval of ADOR's injunction against NewJeans, banning their independent activities, many Korean netizens are saying that the group can just pay the fines and part ways with the agency if they want to.
They commented:
"If they want to leave ADOR so bad, they can just pay the penalty of terminating the contract early and leave."
"Just pay ADOR and leave."
"The court already approved ADOR's injunction to ban NewJeans' independent activities."
"Geez, they are wasting away their time."
"It feels like all they do is just sell emotions. There's not really solid evidence that ADOR treated them that badly."
"Interviewing with BBC is another independent action. Who scheduled this interview? Lol."
"I just feel bad for these girls. They really had a bright future before all this."
"Where is Min Hee Jin? She's still using these girls as a shield."
"This is fun to watch. LOL."
"Just pay the fine and leave ADOR. Simple as that if you want to leave so bad."
"This is getting tiresome."
"Someone please stop them."
"I don't want to see them sell their emotion anymore."
