Former Girl’s Day member Jang Hye Ri has opened up about receiving a sponsorship proposal during her career.

On March 3rd, the YouTube channel ‘Chaejeol Gojunghae’ released a video titled "Non Non Non", featuring a discussion on alcohol-related controversies and personal experiences. The video included appearances by Shin Jung Hwan, Kang Byung Kyu, exorcist Lim Deok Young, and Jang Hye Ri.

During the conversation, Kang Byung Kyu shared an anecdote about meeting Kim Ho Joong over drinks, mentioning that some people intentionally set up social gatherings with hidden agendas. He explained, “There are people who lure others into drinking gatherings, putting them in risky situations that could lead to controversy. We call them ‘devils.’”

Jang Hye Ri then shared her own experience, saying, “This is something I’ve struggled with a lot. I’ve been invited to ‘have a drink and talk’ with people telling me that I need to build these kinds of connections to succeed. Drinking is just the start—there’s also golf. But since I’m not a heavy drinker and don’t enjoy those types of gatherings, I often wondered, ‘Do I have to go if I want to continue in this industry? Or should I just make my own way?’”

She went on to reveal a shocking incident from her rookie days: “There was a very famous executive who would invite both male and female rookies to sing at gatherings. One day, he told me, ‘I’ll help you succeed, but in return, you have to be my girlfriend.’” She added, “I was so taken aback that I told him I wasn’t interested. But then he started listing other female celebrities he had ‘helped’ in the past, saying they were his ‘success stories.’”

Reflecting on the experience, Jang Hye Ri said, “As a young rookie, it was a huge blow to my pride. It made me determined to succeed without relying on things like that.”

Jang Hye Ri was one of the original members of Girl’s Day and later debuted with the band Bebop. She gained attention in 2018 after appearing on ‘I Can See Your Voice 5’, and in August 2020, she made her debut as a trot singer.
